The tournament returns after a six-year hiatus. It started in 2017 with Aryna Sabalenka as its first champion. Now it’s the only WTA event in India, bringing stars from 31 countries. Qualifying rounds were held Feb. 1-2, creating a 32-player singles draw and a 16-team doubles draw. Fans should look forward to significant competition all week.

Among the big names are Kayla Day of the United States and Nao Hibino of Japan. Prarthana Thombare of India also joins the doubles action alongside Arianne Hartono. It has $115,000 in prize money and is a showcase for developing talent. Past winners including Sabalenka have proven its ability to identify future stars.

“We are delighted to host this again,” MSLTA official Pravin Darade said. This fifth edition was jointly organized by the Maharashtra State Lawn Tennis Association and the Cricket Club of India. Fresh courts and names like big sponsors L&T India set the stage for a gripping finale on Feb. 9.
