Tech Giants Collaborate to Develop India’s Own AI Language Model
BENGALURU — Big tech companies like NVIDIA, Meta, and Infosys joined hands on March 1, 2025, in Bengaluru to create India’s own AI language model.

“This is huge for India,” said Ashwini Vaishnaw, IT Minister. He spoke at the launch event. “Our languages and culture need a voice in AI. These partners make it possible.” The team plans to use 18,000 GPUs. That’s serious computing power. They’re targeting a working model by late 2025.
India’s AI push is heating up. Startups like Sarvam AI already make local models. But this deal brings global muscle. It could cut reliance on tools like ChatGPT. Experts say it’s timely. AI demand in India is growing fast. Think healthcare, education, and government services.
